Optimist Nationals - Support Vessels

Welcome to Howth

So that you get the best experience as a visiting support boat (or “Support Person Vessel” as the Racing Rules of Sailing refer to you!), the following few notes are important for you to read.

Registration

It is mandatory for Support Person Vessels to be registered for this event. You can do this when you are registering the competitor's boat. You will be given a numbered flag which you must display throughout the event. There is a refundable deposit of €20.00 for each flag.

Click here for the Registration location.

Launching

Please use the public slipway, beside the Lifeboat House, per the image below.

The HYC slipway is for the sailors and for official RIBs (Safety, marks, jury, etc.).

RIB Berthing

In advance of your arrival, please make contact with the HYC Marina Office (+353 1 8392 777) to be allocated a berth. You may NOT berth on the pontoons under the cranes or by the slipway. Those spaces are for official RIBs only.

When you return from the race area each day, please berth in your allocated space.

Car and trailer parking

Parking is free in Howth Harbour and around Howth. There are no pay-parking areas to worry about.

It is vitally important that you respect the yellow boxes in the harbour area. They are for emergency services access and they are guarded by the Harbour Master and his team. You will get a hefty fine if you break the parking regulations.
