Sutton | 21 September

THE FINAL OUTING of 2023 –- Eileen Lappin’s President’s Prize -- took place at Sutton GC on Thursday, 21st September, with 30 players participating. On the weather front, we were once again blessed with bright sunshine and no rain to complete a series of idyllic golf days throughout the playing year.

Again, with the course in pristine condition, we had another first time winner in 2023 with Sutton member Damian Jennings bringing home the highest score of the year, with 44 points playing off 26.

Captain's Day | 24 August

THE BATTLE TO WIN Tom Fitzpatrick’s Captain’s prize was played out at Malahide GC on Thursday, 24th September, with a large group of 41 members. We were blessed once again with beautiful weather and a well-manicured golf course. Four players came in with the winning score of 34 points and were only separated based on their back 9 performance.

A total of 41 members and partners attended the Prizegiving dinner in Howth Yacht Club later that evening to round off a splendid day.

Our final outing –- Eileen Lappin’s President’s Prize -- will take place in Sutton GC on Thursday, 21st September, with tee time from 11am. We will be running an 18-hole competition, with an alternative 9-hole competition as well. We are hoping for a record turnout and would like to see members there who have not had the opportunity to participate so far this year. Also, our dining venue for this event will be in Sutton GC.
 

 

Mount Wolseley | 13 July

IRELAND’S EYE GOLFING SOCIETY's overnight event took place in Mount Wolseley on Thursday, 13 July. Once again, we enjoyed good playing conditions on a superb course that proved too difficult for some and too easy for others. For the first time ever, we had a Lady winning the Alan Hines Trophy when Zoe Murphy came home on 41 points. A superb achievement!

23 players took part and enjoyed an excellent social occasion that evening in the hotel. Suffice to say that we all went home “tired but happy”!

Our next event is the prestige event of the year – Tom Fitzpatrick’s Captain’s Prize. This will be held in Malahide Golf Club on Thursday, 24 August. We are expecting a bumper attendance for this and it will be followed by a Prizegiving Dinner in HYC.

 

 

Balcarrick | 14th June

IRELAND’S EYE GOLFING SOCIETY enjoyed a magnificent day's golf at a beautifully presented Balcarrick course on Wednesday last, June 14th. With 29 players, a day of warm temperatures and brilliant sunshine throughout, it proved a memorable event for all.

Winner on the day with 34 points was Tom Duffy, narrowly edging out Damian Jennings on the back 9. All the placings were tightly contested with the 8 prize winners and one other player scoring 30 + points.

and
• Eileen Lappin’s President’s Prize in Sutton on Thursday, September 21st
and we are targeting record breaking entries for each of these.

 

 

Skerries | 18th May

IRELAND’S EYE GOLFING SOCIETY had its second event of 2023 at Skerries Golf Club on Thursday 18th May, where 32 members played in magnificent weather. The course was in great condition and Mirja Wenski was a deserved winner of a tight group at the top of the leaderboard.

The prizegiving dinner afterwards in HYC was presided over by the Society Captain, Tom Fitzpatrick with HYC Commodore Neil Murphy and his wife Ann, in attendance as Guests of Honour.

Beaverstown | 20th April 

IRELAND’S EYE GOLF SOCIETY had its first event of 2023 at Beaverstown Golf Club on Thursday, 20th April, where 38 members played. The weather was kind, the course in great condition, and Anthony Gore-Grimes was a worthy winner.

There was a well-attended prizegiving dinner afterwards in HYC, presided over by the Society Captain, Tom Fitzpatrick.
