HYC’s Keelboat Adventure Course
On Monday of last week, the Keelboat Adventure Course sailors were working on their boat handling skills including picking up a mooring and man overboard drills. On Tuesday the crew headed over to Malahide Marina for a picnic lunch (while the Squib sailors stayed ashore to play golf). On Wednesday the sailors planned and carried out their own trip, which included sailing to Greystones via the Royal St. George Yacht. This was followed on Thursday by fast cruise home with up to 10.7 knots being recorded on the gps despite a strong ebb tide. Most of the teaching points in this course were covered during the various planned trips and the remainder were completed on the final day before the issue of certs to the successful participants. Judging by the demonstrations of boat speed and boat handling, we may have a few future members of the K25 Squad in the making! Well done to Lara Jameson, Isabel Cahill, Megan Cahill & Kevin O’Connor.
There has been a late but swift uptake on Keelboat and Keelboat Adventure after a slow start for bookings. A few places are left on some of the remaining courses....
