This month, Howth Yacht Club was pleased to welcome back Active Connections' Inclusive Watersports Camp, delivered through Fingal County Council's Active Cities initiative. We were also delighted to welcome Deputy Mayor of Fingal, Cllr Luke Corkery, and David Storey, Director of Environment, Climate Action, Active Travel and Sport at Fingal County Council to the club to see the programme in action.

The camp provides children and young people with additional needs the opportunity to get out on the water in a safe, supportive and encouraging environment. With dedicated one-to-one support, participants explore a variety of watersports while developing confidence and new skills along the way.

As a club, we believe the water should be accessible to everyone. While sailing, racing and cruising often take centre stage during the summer, we are equally proud that our facilities can host programmes like this, helping more people experience the benefits of being on the water while strengthening connections within the community.

It was wonderful to welcome the camp to the club once again, to witness the enthusiasm and enjoyment of everyone involved, and to see a new cohort of participants gaining independence together. Our thanks to Active Connections, Fingal County Council and the Active Cities team for their ongoing work in creating opportunities like this and for choosing HYC as a base for the programme.
