Club Racing weekly round-up | 9 May 2025

One-design Tuesday
A fleet of 20 boats turned out for Tuesday evening’s racing - 16 Puppeteer 22s and 4 Squibs. Conditions were gentle, with a south-easterly wind ranging from 1 to 5 knots and a glassy flat sea.
The course was set as a 750m Windward/Leeward loop from the committee vessel, with a leeward mark positioned 150m astern. Two rounds were scheduled, but the race was shortened to just one round at the first leeward mark rounding due to the very light and patchy wind.
The Puppeteer fleet had a clear start, spreading nicely across the line, though the light breeze proved challenging. Several boats found it difficult to maintain momentum in the calm conditions. Despite this, all competitors made it to the finish.

Keelboat Wednesday
A hopeful fleet gathered on Wednesday evening for Keelboat Club Racing under Race Officer Jim Lambkin. The wind, however, had other plans.
With a light easterly breeze of just 2.5 knots at best—and dropping to zero —racing was abandoned before any starts could take place.
On a windless Wednesday, everyone adjourned to the bar!

Dinghy Thursday
A great evening on the water for Thursday night dinghy racing, with 14 boats out enjoying sunny skies, warm temperatures, and a steady north-easterly breeze of 6–8 knots.
Windward/Leeward course and two competitive races were completed in ideal conditions. The breeze held throughout the evening. Good turnout, super weather, and some great sailing.
