UCC raiders retain IUSA Student Yachting Champs title
Ten teams competed for the title of 2024 IUSA Student Yachting Champions in Howth over the weekend.
Drawn from all four provinces, the teams were split into two flights racing on Friday, with the top two from each and the best third placed team promoted to the finals on Saturday.
Conditions were similar on both days, with 15-20 kts and flattish waters. In spite of some torrential showers crossing Dublin Bay and the City, Howth stayed under the sun for most of the weekend. A spectacular rainbow over Lambay on Sunday morning certainly didn’t distract the teams from the business at hand and TCD and UCC fought it out right to the last race, with the Cork raiders retaining their title from last year.
Congratulations to the sailing teams from UCC, TCD and TUD who each won places on the HYC J80s for Wave Regatta!
