Volunteer Training
Volunteer Training Session - Saturday 11 April | 10am - 12:30pm
We’re running a training session for volunteers who’d like to get involved in Club and Open Event Racing.
International Race Officer David Lovegrove will cover committee vessel, mark laying, on shore activities, race office, results - all the functions involved in day to day racing and running large event days.
Not all jobs entail going on the water with roles in the race office for big events, beach master and helpers ashore.
You’ll get hands-on experience in:
- Race timing and start sequences
- Visual signalling
- Recording results
- Understanding how on-the-water race management really works
- Critical shore-based roles
David will guide you through each role making sure you feel confident and ready to step into a race day team. Whether you’ve been around boats for years or you’re simply keen to get involved in a new way, on or off the water, you’ll be warmly welcomed.
The seasonal time commitment we ask for in return is up to you. We’ll be grateful for whatever you can give.
