Well the weather window opened for the HYC Cruising Group on the last Saturday of August after the 25 knot winds died down and the sun came out for our annual Armada to the national Yacht Club in DunLaoghaire. The cruising Group was welcomed by the General manager Tim O'Brien who arranged for a welcoming brunch in their newly refurbished Dining room. Tim also arranged for a large pontoon for our arrival after a wonderful voyage across Dublin Bay with all its racing activity on going. Eight Yachts participated with Admiral Gerry O'Neill leading the fleet. With the Armada gathered it was agreed that we in the Cruising Group will now have a competition to design a HYC Cruising Group Armada Battle Flag for attaching to all forestays of the participating yachts in future Armadas. The success of the Armada concept is the short notice and weather opportunity taken by the Group in planning these events. Many thanks to all who participated in the event including two new member yachts and crew.
