Fun Friday Night Success
The first night of the Fun Friday nights at HYC took place with a J80 jaunt around Irelands eye.  A young cohort of sailors from 6 to 14 were on board to join in a pleasant evening on the water.  The light winds were favourable conditions which enabled our young sailors to take turns in helming the boat under the guidance of our experienced skippers and crew and the sheer excitement on many of their faces was wonderful to see.  A big thank you to William Lacy, David Sargent, David Cotter and Simon Knowles who were our helms for the night and also to their competent crew.   Off the water we had the other most important aspect of sailing for our younger members, that is of course food and a social beverage for the parents.

Lots more to happen over the summer with next Friday’s event ‘Kayaking for Teenagers’ (12-18). I-Canoe  (www.i-canoe.com) is Ireland’s largest canoe equipment store and will be providing a “Come & Try Kayaking “session for members of Howth Yacht Club on Friday 24th May as part of our Fun Friday Activities.  This will take place from the dinghy slipway and participants will be introduced to the art of kayaking and guided around the marina and harbour by a fully qualified I-Canoe instructor.
I-Canoe will provide a fleet of suitable kayaks, paddles, helmets and will aim to provide a session that incorporates some basic kayak skills with an emphasis on fun.
All participants must
