Howth Optimist sailors enjoy a late week of training

Not wanting to miss the opportunity to extend the sailing season for one more week, an organised group of twenty-two Optimist sailors took part in a five day training session in Howth Yacht Club over the Halloween break, facilitated and run by our Optimist coaches Michal Gryglewski, Debbie Hanna and Saoirse Kelly.   They all enjoyed the beautiful sunshine that blessed Howth during the week and saw an enthusiastic team of young sailors and amongst the group of 19 boys, with have three girls fighting their corner: Aoibhin Farrelly, Alice Lacy and Una Connell - come on the girls!

The five consecutive half-day sessions on the water worked very well and the coaches got the most out of the day with some great sailing, racing and (most importantly) hot chocolate for everyone at the end of each session.  Just two more days to go in November (13th and 27th) before the boats and sailors take a well-earned break. Many thanks to everyone who helped with this coaching series as it was a wonderful success.
