Lambay Races 2025: A Revitalised Tradition
Howth Yacht Club is thrilled to unveil an exciting new format for this year's Lambay Races.

These iconic races offer skippers and crews of cruisers and one-design keelboats a thrilling challenge - an invigorating race around the stunning Lambay Island. The event is set to take place on Saturday, May 31st, during the June bank holiday weekend. For participants preferring a single-day experience, the Saturday race promises adrenaline-fueled action featuring a diverse mix of boats, including one-design keelboats such as Puppeteers, Squibs, and Howth 17s, alongside racing cruisers.

There will be food served all day, DJ from 3pm and live music on the outside stage later in the evening.

In response to feedback from "big boat" sailors, HYC has reintroduced a second day of racing. Sunday will feature a series of Windward/Leeward (W/L) or Round-the-Cans (RTC) races across multiple classes - Class 0, 1, 2, 3, Non-Spinnaker, and Mixed Sports Boats.

This return to a two-day regatta has been warmly welcomed by sailors from Dun Laoghaire who relish the combination of thrilling races, Après Sail festivities, and HYC's renowned hospitality.

This year’s event has already sparked strong interest from the burgeoning Sports Boats Fleet, promising a spectacular weekend of competitive sailing over the June bank holiday.

Event Chairman Phil Merry shared, "HYC is eager to welcome 100 boats to the Lambay Races. Further details, including the Notice of Race and entry information, can be found HERE."
