Tuesday Night One Design Racing

The one design fleet returned to racing last Tuesday 16th of July, returning from a brief hiatus the previous week due to high winds. They managed to get one race in which kicked off Series 3 of the Summer. The evening started with a mix of clouds and occasional bursts of sunshine, showcasing a small glimpse of Summer. 
 
The wind was blowing at 5 knots to 8 knots at a bearing of 300 degrees. This gentle and steady breeze combined with the last of the flood tide allowed for an exciting evening of racing. However, as the race started the leeward end of the course proved relatively tricky resulting in some place changes at the front end of the fleet. 

Squib Fleet

In the Scratch, Crackerto finished 1st, closely followed by Ronan McDonell in Kaizen with Simon Sheehan’s O’Leary taking third place.
 
In the HPH fleet, O’Kelly & Barry in Fantome took 1st place with Simon Sheehan in O’Leary taking 2nd and Jeff & Stephen Kay’s Crackerto taking 3rd place.
 
Puppeteer Fleet
The puppeteer fleet had 19 boats out racing on Tuesday night. 
In Scratch, it was the Commodore Neil Murphy with co-owner Conor Costello and crew on Yellow Peril who took 1st place, David Clarke’s Harlequin came second closely followed by Alan Pearson & Alan Blay’s Trick or Treat in 3rd.
 
In HPH, Jack McMahon and crew in Pinocchio took 1st place, followed by Neil Murphy & Conor Costello in Yellow Peril who secured 2nd and Kieran & Bernard Barker’s Papagena took 3rd place.

Wednesday Night Racing

Class 1

In the IRC Fleet, Michael & Richard Evans Snapshot took 1st place, followed by Stephen Quinn and crew in Lambay Rules who took 2nd, Simon Knowles Indian secured 3rd place.
 
Overall in the IRC Fleet, Mojo are lying 1st with 5 points, Snapshot are close behind in 2nd place with 6 points, Lambay rules are 4 points behind Snapshot with 10 points putting them in 3rd place. 

Class 2 

In HPH, Snapshot took 1st place, followed by Indian in 2nd place and Lambay Rules in 3rd.
In IRC, Stephen Mullaney and his crew on Insider secured 1st place, Wright & DeNeve’s Mata followed closely behind taking 2nd place, Xebec took 3rd place  in an extremely close finish one second behind Mata on corrected time.
 
Overall in Class 2 IRC Fleet Insider leads with 2 consecutive bullets. Xebec follows in second place with 5 points. Mata is coming third so far in Series 3 with 6 points and is only 1 point behind Xebec.
 
In HPH, Paddy Kyne’s Maximus took 1st place followed by Bourke, McGirr & Ball’s Xebec in 2nd with Caroline & Nico Gore-Grimes Dux secured 3rd place.

Non- Spinnaker

In White Sails IRC Fleet, Spellbound took 1st place with Dermot Skehan’s Toughnut taking 2nd followed closely by Colm Bermigham’s Bite The Bullet who secured 3rd place 5 seconds behind Toughnut on corrected time.
 
Overall in IRC, Toughnut leads the fleet with 4 points, Colm Bermingham and crew on Bite The Bullet are currently in 2nd place with 6 points, Spellbound and Splashdance are tied on points leaving it all to be determined who might move up the leaderboard in the next race.
 
In HPH, Terry McCoy and crew on Out and About secured 1st place, followed by Graham Burrow & L Skeffington in 2nd place with Peter & Declan McCabes Arcturus in 3rd place. 
 

Thursday Night Dinghy Racing

On Thursday night the dinghy fleet managed to return to racing following a few weeks hiatus due to bad weather. The fleet managed to get in two races on Thursday night to make up for lost time.
 
Daragh Sheriden in his RS Aero managed to secure two 1st’s in the PY fleet. Michael Evans and his crew in his Melges 15 secured 2nd place in the first race of the night as well as in the second race of the night. John Phelan secured 3rd place in both races.
 
In the overall standings so far, Michael Evans is lying 1st overall in his Melges 15 on 25 points, Cormac Farrelly and his crew in his Melges 15 is coming 2nd. In 3rd place so far is John Phelan in his RS Aero 6.
