Howth Yacht Club buzzed with non-stop activity and vibrancy during the past weekend, leaving no doubt about the quality and success of the 2024 Wave Regatta. Competitors and attendees alike showered praise on the large team that orchestrated this year’s event—the latest and greatest Wave to date.

Navigating a three-day sailing event in Ireland always involves unexpected challenges due to ever-changing conditions. However, meticulous planning and thoughtful consideration ensured that the activity and hospitality schedule flowed seamlessly.

Three days of intense racing, coupled with brilliant hospitality and top-tier entertainment, epitomized what Wave stands for—and it delivered.

Racing Consistency Wins Big at Wave

Congratulations to Colm Bermingham and the crew of the Elan 333 “Bite The Bullet” on winning the Wave Regatta 2024 Overall Trophy showcasing consistent results on the leaders board with 3 firsts and a second.

This overall prize is awarded to the best performing IRC boat in the 3-day series.

Shoreside Entertainment

The primary goal of Wave Regatta is to provide exhilarating racing for all competitors but anyone who’s participated in Wave Regatta will know that the event is unashamedly built around three nights of entertainment, live music and one big party! 

Wave 2024 did not disappoint in terms of entertainment.  DJ Covell kept the big stage moving all weekend where he welcomed local celebrity Vogue Williams as the top billing on Friday night

On Saturday afternoon, we were treated to an amazing spectacle of rugby as the European Rugby Champions Cup played out on the big screen, while the fine weather drew everyone to the festival village. Although it wasn’t Leinster’s day in terms of the rugby result, nothing could dampen the spirits of our competitors as they partied on into the night.

Behind the Scenes: The Organizing Team

Our dedicated organization team worked tirelessly to bring everything together, building upon the successful templates established during our previous events in 2018 and 2022.
