Oh What A Night... was HYC Season Opener Party
On Saturday 6th of April, The K25 Team hosted a vibrant Season Opener Party with proceeds raised going towards their 2024 racing campaign.
Starting in Style... and Community
The evening kicked off with an infectious beat as the DJ took centre stage in the dining room, from 8:30 pm till late.
The atmosphere was electric with all attendees of all ages from 18 to 80 making moves on the dancefloor after a few of Frank’s Cocktail creations! It was also a perfect opportunity for members to get together for pre season banter and make plans for the upcoming season.
The evening also featured a raffle boasting an array of locally sourced prizes, each one more enticing than the last. A huge thank to all who donated prizes all in the name of supporting the K25 youth team's 2024 campaign.
Many Thanks to:
- Howth Castle Cookery School
- Shane's Howth Adventures
- Deerpark Golf
- Marine Parts Direct
- Centra Howth
- Roisin Linnane
- Four Star Pizza
- Waterwipes
- Tom and Kate McMahon
By the end of the night, the fundraiser had amassed just shy of 2,000 euros, a testament to the unwavering support and generosity of the HYC community. A huge thank you must go to all who attended on the night, purchased raffle tickets or supported through leaving a donation!
This sum will undoubtedly serve as a crucial stepping stone for the K25 team as they embark on their journey towards success in the upcoming 2024 season, as well as expanding their offering to more young members through training and social events.
And if you couldn’t make it on the night but still wish to donate, there's still plenty of time to do it through this link.
What's Ahead for the Season...
Beyond the funds raised, the event served as a reminder of the impact that collective support can have on the aspirations of young members of HYC. In 2024 multiple U/25 crews will be competing in different regattas throughout the season. The K25 Team already have a packed calendar including competing in the upcoming Wave Regatta, J/24 regional and national events and putting a U/25 team forward to compete in The RYS Commodores Invitational in Cowes in early July, which is one of the primary events of the season.
All members between 18-25 years who want to be part of the growing movement of youth sailors at HYC can get in touch with Lara Jameson and they'll be able to train and participate in the K25 program.
Everyone is welcome to HYC and the K25 Team, whether you’re an active sailor or new to sailing!
