A great year of community spirit: HYC celebrates club volunteers at the annual Wash-Up Supper
26 February 2024
A night of camaraderie and celebrations of 2023 successes was the theme of the annual Washup Supper, which took place on Friday 23rd February at HYC.
The Wash-Up Supper is hosted by the General Committee to show appreciation for the invaluable contribution of many members who volunteer throughout the year to make events and activities happen smoothly and memorably.
As Howth Yacht Club Commodore, Neil Murphy, acknowledged in his thank you speech to an audience of more than 60 volunteers who attended the dinner “We simply would not be in a position to take on such extensive activities without the support of our volunteers.”
At Friday's event, our Commodore spoke about the 2024 season including our signature WAVE event and how HYC plans to host several national championships such as the Aero, Squib, Mermaid, Optimist and Melges 15 Nationals. These events are a great opportunity for members to get involved and support the club.
The Commodore also announced a pre-season briefing that will take place in the club on Thursday, 14th March. The meeting will be the occasion to update members on various aspects of Howth Yacht Club operations during the upcoming season and all members are invited to attend.
A supper to remember...
Celebrations started at 7 pm with a wine reception where everyone immediately mingled, showing that community spirit is alive and well in Howth Yacht Club.
HYC Chef Marcel and the restaurant crew looked after everyone really well with amazing food and service, while Frank and the bar team kept the wine flowing with some great conversations around the tables.
Planning for a new season of volunteering and success ahead: you are welcome to join!
