Calling all HYC Sailors.

We're delighted to announce that Howth Yacht Club has been invited to participate in the first-ever Irish Sailing League event. This is a unique opportunity for our club to compete against the top sailing clubs in Ireland. We're reaching out to our members to form a team that will proudly represent HYC in this prestigious event.

Event Details

Date: 13th & 14th April 2024

Venue: Dun Laoghaire

Organising Authority: Irish National Sailing School (INSS)

Event Chair: Kenneth Rumball

Racing Type: Fleet Racing

Boats: J80s provided by INSS

Crew: 5 members per boat Cost: €450 per team (€90 per sailor for two days)

Note: It is a condition of entry that all crew must be members of Howth Yacht club.

About the Irish Sailing League

The Irish Sailing League launched in December 2022 with the aim of promoting inter-club racing which is hugely successful in other parts of Europe and across North America. Competitors represent their club in a series of short sprint races against teams from other clubs who will battle it out to become the Irish Sailing League Champions and give a club the right to declare it is the best sailing club in the country. The Champion club may have the opportunity to represent their country at the Sailing Champions League held annually battling against the best sailing clubs from other nations such as the United Kingdom, Italy, France and Portugal.

We invite HYC members who are interested in putting a team together to reach out to our Honorary Sailing Secretary, Emmet Dalton, at [email protected] by 17:00 on 08 March.

Team Selection

If we receive interest from multiple teams, HYC's Sailing Committee will establish an assessment panel to select the team that will represent our club.
