HYC Leverages EU Funding to Complete Marina Upgrade Project

We're pleased to share some recent improvements at Howth Yacht Club, made possible by a financial grant from the European Union’s Brexit Adjustment Reserve Fund, administered by An Bord Iascaigh Mhara through the Brexit Blue Economy Enterprise Development Scheme and in partnership with the Fisheries Local Action Group CLLD

Marina Pontoon Upgrade

A key aspect of this project was the replacement of one of our marina pontoons, specifically the one under the crane facility. This upgrade, which accounted for 50% of the project cost covered by the grant, has improved both the functionality and safety of our marina.

We would like to express our gratitude to An Bord Iascaigh Mhara for their financial support. This grant has been a significant help in facilitating these much-needed improvements. Alongside the pontoon replacement, we took this opportunity to move and upgrade our fuel tanks. This move ensures a more efficient and environmentally responsible fueling system for our members and visitors.

The upgraded pontoon area is not just for our members; it's a hub for various activities. It serves the RNLI Lifeboat, Coastguard, Garda Water Unit, and local fishermen. This makes it a vital part of our club and the local maritime community.

Impacting Local Tourism

These new facilities are also set to enhance the experience of visiting yachts, which during the sailing season, include boats from all over the world. The new pontoons, supplied and installed by Inland and Coastal Marine Systems of Banagher Co. Offaly, contribute positively to the local tourism in the Fingal area by offering a welcoming first impression to visitors.

The completion of this project is a step forward for Howth Yacht Club in maintaining and improving our facilities. We're proud of these enhancements and are excited to see the benefits they will bring to our members, visitors, and the wider community. We look forward to welcoming everyone to experience the upgraded marina.
