Cruising Group Awards Dinner
The 2022 Cruising Group Awards came back with a bang after a Covid absence. There were 12 tables of 120 attendees (with the new addition of many of our J80s sailors, joining us for their first-ever Cruising Group dinner) creating a great buzz all round! The evening started with a drinks reception, during which Paul and Flynn McLernon collected the Mutec Cup for their entry into the Photographic Competition.
Marcel and his team then produced a delicious dinner, during which our brain cells were being exercised by Gary McGuire’s tricky quiz. Between courses, Regina Martin and Aideen Sargent pulled names for the lucky winners of the spot prizes.
Paddy Judge, in his second-last official role as Commodore, presented the awards. Willie Kearney was the popular recipient of the Donal Skehan Memorial Trophy for his work with the Cruising Group during the difficult Covid years.
The evening concluded with a rap from Audrey Dunphy, while Regina organised a 12-table version of the 12 Days of Christmas. Roll on next year!
