Opportunity for young sailors to become sailing instructors

We have a few places left on our voluntary assistant instructor programme on our junior summer courses. Volunteers need to be keen sailors and 15 or 16 years of age. Each assistant instructor normally helps out for two weeks on the Taste of Sailing courses, which are for our younger sailors. Howth Yacht Club then provides these volunteers (who are eligible to train as next year’s instructors) with a free pre-entry assessment course and a subsidised instructor training course. Younger volunteers who would not be old enough to instruct next year, are also welcome to apply and in return will be offered a free place on one of our Keelboat courses or a Team Racing course.

This is an ideal platform for young sailors who might be interested in following a pathway to be a sailing instructor and can be a very rewarding experience, working with a superb team and under the guidance of our senior instructors.

To apply for one of these assistant instructor positions, please fill out this application form and e-mail it to [email protected]
