Club Dinghies

The club has a number of dinghies that are available to rent for courses or training purposes organised by HYC.  They are not available under any circumstances for sailing at non- HYC courses, training or events.  Open events which are organised by HYC may be excepted, please check in advance with the relevant Junior Committee member or Coaching Manager.  All club boats and their use as described in this document are covered by HYC insurance.

HYC Dinghy Charter - Boat details and rental process: 

Racing of Club boats While the primary purpose of the Club boats is to facilitate training during the summer courses and other training sessions, some use in racing is permitted.  In particular this may include students on courses that require them to log additional hours on the water in addition to the course programme,  preparation by HYC course instructors and assistants for additional instructor qualifications.  Boats will not be available for racing if they are fully booked for a current sailing course which takes priority.

Availability: Summer ‘Start sailing’ courses , Summer Optimist fun week, Autumn training for those candidates who achieved start sailing and about to move on to the next level.

Availability: ‘Taste of sailing’ summer courses, ‘Teen dinghy’ courses

Topper: (x1)

Availability: to promote the Topper class in HYC, one topper is available to allow a try out by a junior looking to move into the class.   Up to three sessions available for any one sailor. May also be booked for summer course if no other demand exists.

Availability:For juniors who need to log hours on the water in a double hander in order to complete a specific sailing course.

Availability: ‘Kites and Wires’ Summer courses; juniors who need to log hours on the water in a double hander in order to complete a sailing course.

Availability: ‘Kites and Wires’ summer courses.   Other specific club training sessions/courses may be facilitated by request.  Any one sailor or team will be limited in their use of the boats to ensure the widest possible availability to members considering this class.

Booking Process

1.   Check availability of required dinghy by contacting the person specified above (i.e. Coaching Manager, Class Captain).

2.    Fill in booking form and pay fee through the HYC main office.

3.    Sign out dinghy from Marina Office on first day of charter.

4.    Sign dinghy back in on last day of charter, report any damage or loss of equipment.
